What Is Bird Watching?
Bird watching is a fun hobby to have and can be very educational. Those who have been bird watching for awhile will be able to identify a bird by the song it sings or the colors it has. In fact it is becoming quite a popular hobby all across the world and can be very relaxing.
In order to make this hobby work all you need are binoculars, a field guide, and the patience to observe birds for hours. The binoculars you use should be lightweight and should be able to work well in the woodland or forest.
Higher magnification (10x or 12x; and heavier weight) glasses are better for open country and wetland birding; but some people will find them more difficult to hand hold and therefore suffer a more shaky image.
Some people prefer the guides with illustrations because photographs can lead to confusion due to poor lighting, flash, posture, etc. Get into the habit of studying the birds’ habits, calls, and field marks before birding. This way, you will be ready to identify a particular bird the instant you see it.
